Just a quick post. Here is a card I made for my son’s girlfriend’s birthday.
I used the Bliss Sale-a-bration set. This is one of the sets you can have for FREE when you place a $100 Stampin’Up! order with me during February and March.
Colours used in card and inks were Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie.
The technique is Faux Silk. You can find a post explaining this technique under the listings for Card Techniques.
I must admit to making a boo-boo with this card! I had planned to mount the finished faux silk tissue piece onto white card then onto a black matt but instead got totally distracted while creating and stuck my stamped tissue paper onto the black matt and not the white card. I did not realise until I had finished the card!!!!! I don’t think it ended up too bad, in fact the effect grew on me as I had it sitting on my desk for the next few days!
Any way Sarah liked it and that is what is important!
Have a great day!
I have finally had some time to have a really good play with my stamps and boy did it feel great to be finally creating again!
Here is a quick card idea using the Aviary set from the current summer Mini catalogue. I liked the two tone effect and it also made the whole card creation a lot easier as I was not pulling out umpteen stamp pads!
The colours used are Marina Mist card and ink, Basic Black card and Black Staz-On ink.
Stamps used are Aviary, Well Worn and Well Scripted.
I do hope the Aviary and Well scripted sets make it into the next big Idea Book, however if you don’t want to run that risk you have until the end of March to order them before they are gone as that is when the current mini catalogue expires. Ordering them now will get you well on the way to a $100 order and a free Sale-a-bration stamp set! Check out the Sale-a-bration sets and all the details at http://www3.stampinup.com/au/ena/8045.asp
I’ve got lots more to show you so come back soon for a visit!
Here is another birthday card I made this month – this time for my lovely daughter’s birthday. I always need to do something special for her as she keeps my cards on display all year round! It’s known as a Free Standing Popup card. It did receive the nod of approval from DD!
When I restart classes for this year in February this will be the first class I will be doing – so if you are interested do let me know!
The two top pics show the card when sitting opened, the smaller pic shows the card lying flat ready to be popped open!
Stamp sets used are -Crazy for Cupcakes
A Word For You
Cardstock – Cherry Cobbler (my favourite!)
Accessories – Early Espresso Satin ribbon
Jumbo eyelets and Crop-A-Dile
Inks – Cherry Cobbler
Black Staz – On
If I can help you order any of these Stampin’Up! products please let me know and don’t forget Sale-a-bration starts on the 25th January – for every $100 you order you choose a FREE Sale-a-bration set worth $32!
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
Hi Everyone! Here’s a card I completed for my eldest son’s recent birthday. I played around with a couple of techniques to create this and was quite chuffed with how it turned out!
The background for the clock face was done using the polished stone technique. Reinker colours used on gloss card were Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede and Wild Wasabi.
The cogs have been stamped on gloss card that I backgrounded using Platinum Shimmer paint. What I did was scrunch up some plastic cling wrap and dabbed it into some shimmer paint and daubed it over the gloss card – very effective and soooooo easy to do!
Stamp sets used are – Sense of Time and Perfect Punches.
Accessories – Early Espresso satin ribbon,Antique brads, Neutral brads,Extra large Oval punch, Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack in Brights, Platinum Shimmer paint.
Card – Glossy White and Wild Wasabi.
Inks – Wild Wasabi, Staz-On Black Reinkers – Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi and Soft Suede.
I reckon this is going to be my male card for the year to come – love how it looks!
Just to mention too – Stampin’Up! is donating $2 from the sale of every stamp set over $30 to the Queensland Flood Appeal, from now until February 15. The floods in Queensland have been devastating so if you would like to help out, please make an order and include some stamp sets in your order. You can email me your orders at email@example.com I know I’ll be adding a few extra sets off my wish list in my next order.
Thanks for looking!
Sorry about the background! I took the photo in a hurry just before I gave the card to my BF Heather for her birthday back in December. I was so pleased with how the card turned out I just had to show you – bad background and all!!!
The stamp set is Just Believe. The images were stamped up using Stampin’Write markers – Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red.
The shadow image on the right was done doing Stampin’Off technique. You keep stamping the image without reinking the stamp. It can create a very effective backgound for your creations.
Hope you have a lovely day!
Here is a sneak peek of one of the lovely Sale-a-bration sets available from January 25 to March 31.
The sets used here are So Happy For You as the sentiment and the floral images are from Sweet Summer.
I made this card for a very special young lady’s birthday recently. The original design was given to me as a swap on the 2009 Incentive Trip by Patrice Halliday from NZ.
I have used the In Colour DSP from the Level One Hostess set in the IB&C.
Card stock is Blushing Bride and Poppy Parade.
Punches are Scallop Circle and 1 3/8 circle. Images were coloured using an Aqua Painter and inks.
Thanks for looking!!!!!
Sorry for having been out of touch for so long but as mentioned in an earlier post I have been busy helping out my Mum. She has made a terrific recovery but we are still attending appointments each week which all takes up time. Anyway I have got myself organised and uploaded some photos of my latest creations for you and some older ones too.
I know we are past Christmas but as I did not get on here to show you my Christmas card to my team – here it is! Thanks to Marelle Taylor for the inspiration. It was a lovely quick card to make – just what I needed when time was in short supply.
I used my fav colour of the moment Cherry Cobbler and DSP Jolly Holiday. Stamps are Winter Post and Teeny Tiny Sentiments. The lovely gold shimmer is done using Champagne shimmer paint as a spritzer.
The trick to doing this is adding 10 drops of shimmer paint to a small spray bottle and topping it up with rubbing alcohol – you can get this at the chemist or supermarket. give it all a good shake and spritz away! It gives an amazing look to your creations!
Now that life is settling down a bit – Mum is getting better, Christmas and New Year are over, the Christmas decorations have been packed up (that took a full day!), Christmas sales, one 20 year olds birthday done and then packed her up and off to Cambodia/Vietnam, things are indeed settling. I have just realised that as I sit here typing. Pity that I’m not on hols to enjoy it more!!!!!
Happy New Year Everyone!!!!
