I just had to share this card with you. I have not had time until today to create one of these fabulous cards. They are the latest craze hitting the cardmaking world at the moment. It has been frustrating having to wait to create one of my own. However today at long last I had some free time and here is is what I made!
I had so much fun making the card and I am now inspired to come up with a lot more variations. Look out my class ladies – this is next months class!
The best part about this card is it folds flat so as it will fit in an envelope for posting. And of course you can make the perfect sized envelope using Stampin’Up!s envelope punch board.
Stamp set is Petal Parade and papers are Sweet Sorbet, both are exclusive Sale-a-bration items which you can receive for free with a $90 Stampin’Up! order from now until March 31st.
Look out for more creations over the next few weeks!
This is the last card using the painters tape technique that I will show off on my blog – promise! I just had to put this one on display as I love the colour combination and how well the whole card turned out. You can create so many interesting backgrounds using this simple and easy technique.
Painters tape is low tack tape available in hardware stores ( or in your partners tool kit!). To create the background tear off a strip of tape a bit longer than the card piece you are decorating. Place tape over open Stampin’Up! inkpad. Our inkpads are lovely and juicy for this technique! Press tape sticky side down lightly on inkpad to apply ink to tape. Lift off, check if happy with amount of ink on tape, if so, place onto card and press over tape lightly. Remove from card. Repeat in different colours and create wonderful backgrounds!
One word of warning – don’t leave the tape for too long on your card piece as it will stick and remove the top layer of card. Found that out the hard way!
Colours used are – Pear Pizzazz, Smoky Slate and Pool Party.
I love the font of the Million & One thank you stamp. It comes in a set of two stamps and is designed to pair beautifully with the Simply Sent kit – Simply Fabulous.
You can find all these products in my online store. Click the “Shop Now” tab to see them.
Enjoy playing with this fun technique!
My team and I will be at the Melbourne Scrapbook & Papercraft Expo at The Exhibition Buildings, Carlton, this Friday February 21 and Saturday February 22. Kathryn Ruddick and her team will man the stand on Sunday.
If you want to see some fun new ideas, techniques and products do come by and see our displays and have a sit down and do one of our make and take items.
Here is my make & Take. If you would like to learn the Faux Washi Tape technique then I will be more than happy to teach you.
We are looking forward to a fun filled show – hope to see you there!
Here are some more ideas on how to create different backgrounds using the painters tape technique. I love playing around with this way of creating fun backgrounds and trying different colour combinations.
How do you like these ideas?
For a totally random look try laying the tape across the card piece on different angles and builing up the colour until you are happy with the result. Here I used Coastal Cabana, Pink Pirouette, and Crumb Cake. A colour combo I got from the Colour Coach cards.
Aren’t the Petite Petals stamps and punch soooo cute! You’ll find them in the new Occasions catalogue.
Now how is this for a tartan look?
The appearance is always going to be different every time you do this technique. Colours this time are Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush and Crisp Canteloupe.
This makes a great male card technique.
Have a play and have fun creating!!!
I’ve been holding off showing you these cards as they were made especially for The Eureka Stampers Team Day which was held today. The fabulous day was put on by my wonderful downlines Simone Bartrum, Tracy Penn and Maureen Crameri for their downlines. Girls you did an amazing job and I am positive your teams are very proud of you all. You and the many presentations done today will have totally inspired them to get out there and create up a storm!
Simone very kindly asked me to do a “Wow” demonstration and so I did my fave technique of the moment “Painters Tape Technique”. You may also see this described as “Faux Washi Tape Technique”. I tied it in with the current Sale-a-bration stamp set “See Ya Later” to show how that stamp set could be used with this technique for a workshop make and take.
So here we go –
All the cards are mounted onto Basic Black matts and then onto White Naturals folded card. The Whisper White inked piece measures 8.5 x 7.5 cm. Love the new Bakers twine in silver and gold. Colours used here to ink are Strawberry Slush, Crisp Canteloupe and Blushing Bride. The little heart is punched out using the owl punch – the little heart with that punch, it is so handy for so many projects.
Colours are – Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay. Dazzling Details glitter glue was added to create the icing effect.
The little punched out details are made using some Watercolour Wonder washi tape stuck onto So Saffron card and punched out using the tiny flower punch from the Itty Bitty punch pack. Very cute way to add an extra detail to your card. They were mounted on Dimensionals to make them pop off the card.
Colours – Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron, Old Olive.
Last of all –
I love the little silver clouds on this card. Again using the tiny flower punch used above I punched out discs from silver glimmer paper and cut them in half to create the extra clouds.
Colours are – Pool Party, Baja Breeze and Coastal Cabana. I know, I know Baja Breeze is retired but it still lives in front of me in my ink pad storage! It wasn’t until I photographed these cards after I had made them that I realised my faux pas so the next sample I made for use today used Soft Sky for the Baja Breeze.
If you would like to learn this technique in a workshop let me know and we will make a date to have a fun time getting inky!
Hope you like these. Check out my pages next time for some variations on this technique.
