Best Birds Card for CASEing the Catty

This card is not my usual style at all and I am still looking at it at times and thinking about whether I like it or not. I think it is growing on me. I already had the swirly bird circle background stamped when playing around with another idea for a card. This weeks CASEing the Catty pages were posted Sunday night and there was a circle background so my challenge to myself was to create a card for CASEing the Catty using that already stamped cardstock.

Keeping my other challenge going, I also had to use a new stamp set I had not inked up yet. Yes the pile on my desk is diminishing. Yes I buy way too many stamp sets but that’s why I am a demonstrator so I can get them all at a discount!!!! Plus I love them all!!!! That’s why I never ( well very rarely ) sell any of my retired stamp sets so you can imagine after 10 years of being a demonstrator there are quite a few stashed away in my spare room.

Anyway I am off the track with this post! Here is my card for CASEing the Catty.

The set I chose for inking up was Best Birds from the Annual catalogue page 53 and I combined it with the Birds & Blooms Thinlit dies which you can buy as a bundle and save 10%. Using the dies saved on the fussy cutting making getting a card put together just that bit quicker! The die cut pieces are popped up off the card with Dimensionals.

To be different I added a background of Fabulous Foil Acetate and attached it with washi tape from the Affectionately Yours set of tapes. The wording comes from the popular Sale-a-bration stamp set Hey Chick.
If you like my card you could go to CASEing the Catty and vote for my card or any of the other cards entered for this weeks challenge. Better still how about you enter the challenge?

I’d be interested to know what you think of this card because as I mentioned it is not my usual style and so I am quite unsure about it.

Thanks for dropping by!

CASEing the Catty Sunday Challenge Entry – Window Shopping Glimmer Paper Card

Time for me to have another go at entering CASEing the Catty Sunday Challenge. I only had a short amount of time so I CASE’d the sketch on page 42 of the Occasions Catalogue and instead of using the Special Reason bundle I created my card using the Window Shopping bundle.

You can view the other entries for this week here. I’m loving the new colours in the free Sale-a-bration glimmer paper assortment pack. For this card I’ve used Bermuda Bay glimmer paper. You can receive a pack for free during Sale-a-bration when you make a $90 Aust Stampin’Up! order.

I do like doing monochromatic cards and this card will make a great masculine birthday card.

Since discovering the Bunch of Banners Framelit that cuts the two layered banner I’ve used in the last 3 cards I have made. I love how you can easily create a contrast surround for your banner sentiment.

Thanks for visiting and why not give the CASEing the Catty Challenge a try for yourself?

CASEing the Catty Sunday Challenge – My Entry

Today marks the start of sixteen weeks long service leave for me!

I have set myself a few challenges and I will be interested to see how I go as time goes along. One challenge is to try and create a new card every day/second day. I have so many brand new stamp sets on my desk that my aim is to use one of them every day and reduce the enormous stack to a mere couple of sets.
Second challenge is to enter some blog challenges – something I have not done before.

Well Day One I am off to an excellent start and have not only created a card but also used that card to enter my first challenge. The challenge is from CASEing the Catty Sunday Challenge. You can find the challenge here. You might like to join in as well!

The challenge this week is to CASE the Occasions cattie pages 14 – 19 creating your choice from these pages. I chose to CASE the Easter card layout on page 19.

I substituted the Rose Wonder stamp set, used Succulent Garden Designer Series paper and the ribbon is from the Sale-a-bration metallic ribbon combo pack. Colours are Old Olive and Tip Top Taupe.

I am off to a flying start, the plan is to keep the momentum going!!!!
